Out of the Blue No. 1 is a study in contrast, movement, and color.
A large white flower takes center stage, surrounded by layers of expressive marks in blue, pink, yellow, lavender, and coral. The petals move between detailed and loose, with sections fading into the colorful background rather than remaining completely defined.
I wanted the flower to feel like it was emerging from the color rather than simply sitting against it. The more rendered areas give the eye somewhere to land, while the surrounding marks keep the painting active and a little unpredictable.
