Out of the Blue No. 8

Out of the Blue No. 8 brings bold color and expressive brushwork together in a flower that feels almost larger than the canvas.

Warm yellow and ochre petals radiate from a dark, textured center, with flashes of pink, orange, purple, and blue appearing throughout the layers of paint. The petals shift between more defined passages and loose, transparent areas where the colors and marks underneath remain visible.

The background continues the visual language of the collection, with blocks of blue, pink, green, and lavender layered together rather than creating a defined setting. I wanted the flower to feel as though it was emerging from all of that color, with the surrounding marks becoming part of the flower itself rather than simply sitting behind it.

This is an original acrylic painting created as part of Out of the Blue, a collection that began as a series of experiments and evolved into an exploration of expressive floral forms, color, and abstraction.
