Out of the Blue No. 4 explores the balance between softness and structure.
A pale, expressive flower unfolds across layers of blue, green, pink, and warm neutral tones. The petals are loosely defined through visible brushwork and dark marks, allowing the flower to emerge gradually from the layers of color surrounding it.
I wanted this piece to feel quieter than some of the other paintings in the collection, while still keeping the energy of the brushwork and unexpected flashes of color. The darker center anchors the composition and draws the eye into the layers of the flower.
This is an original acrylic painting created as part of Out of the Blue, a collection that began as a series of color and floral experiments and evolved into something unexpected.
