Out of the Blue No. 3 explores the space between a recognizable flower and abstraction.
Layers of pink, lavender, blue, turquoise, and yellow build a loose, expressive composition, with the flower emerging through overlapping shapes and visible marks. The petals are suggested rather than completely defined, allowing parts of the flower to blend into the surrounding color.
I wanted this piece to feel less structured and more spontaneous. The loose edges and exposed marks give the painting a sense of movement, while the bright shifts in color keep the composition energetic and unpredictable.
